Bio

I’m Olivia Dawson, a communications and marketing professional with a strong background in digital strategy, content creation and brand storytelling. With a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Information Sciences from The University of Alabama, I specialize in crafting compelling narratives that drive engagement, strengthen brand identity and connect organizations with their audiences.

I currently serve as a Marketing and Communications Specialist at EGGER Wood Products where I manage social media, advertising and brand campaigns that elevate awareness and boost sales.

​

Previously I worked with the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors as a Communications and Engagement Specialist leading advocacy initiatives, event promotion and digital communications to support both industry professionals and legislative efforts. My past experience also includes strategic content development with the UA Center for Advanced Public Safety where I focused on public safety communications.

​

Beyond my professional roles I developed leadership skills through the Country Music Association EDU Leadership Program where I connected with industry leaders, completed market research projects and promoted artists through digital campaigns.

 

I thrive at the intersection of creativity and strategy, whether it’s managing integrated campaigns, building media relationships or leveraging analytics to optimize performance. My goal is always the same: to tell stories that inspire action and deliver measurable impact.

ASSIGNMENT PROMPTS

RFP: This is a hypothetical Request for Proposal done in APR332 (PR Writing).

News Release: This assignment was a news release, which is a written statement about a matter of public interest, regarding Alabama releasing a pilot program called Early Support. The news release highlights what the program is and elaborates on The University of Alabama's involvement.

Media Advisory: The media advisory sample is a piece that invites the media to an event on UA's campus. It discusses a Rising Tide event that took place on Sept. 10. It tells the reader what the event is, who is hosting it, where and when it takes place, the importance of the event, as well as any photo opportunities. 

Feature Story: A feature story is a longer piece of news writing that usually focuses on human interest stories, interviews, and other soft news. My feature story is about a boy who has been chosen to participate in The University of Alabama's Early Support program. In my feature story I use an anecdotal lead.
